ABOUT CRISTINA & AIMEE

Cristina Segredo, PT, DPT, NCS

Cristina Segredo, PT, DPT, NCS, is a bilingual Doctor of Physical Therapy,  licensed in Florida and Georgia, who has been dedicated to changing lives and molding minds in the healthcare and wellness field for over 15 years, as both a personal trainer and a physical therapist.  She specializes in helping people who have sustained catastrophic injuries return back to living independent and fulfilling lives. 

 

Dr. Segredo attended The Florida State University, where she began her personal training career while pursuing her education. She graduated with Exercise Science and Business Management degrees and subsequently attended The University of South Florida where she graduated with her Doctor of Physical Therapy. She furthered her post-professional education with the completion of a neurologic residency program and becoming a Board Certified Neurologic Clinical Specialist. 

 

She has clinical experience across the healthcare continuum in settings from acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation centers, outpatient rehabilitation clinics, and home health.  She also has experience as a research physical therapist working with neuromodulation technology, with the focus and goal of advancing the science and evidence-based practice utilized to maximize patient outcomes.  Dr. Segredo values education and paying it forward.  She has played an integral part in mentoring doctoral students, residents, and fellow colleagues through her roles as a clinical mentor and didactic lecturer in residency programs, as well as in the development and teaching of continuing education courses.  She recently combined her expertise as a physical therapist with her passion for fitness and wellness and wrote a book called Ageless Fitness, which serves as a health guide and resource aimed at maintaining fitness and maximizing quality of life in older adulthood. 

 

With our evolving healthcare system, Dr. Segredo recognizes the need for continued therapy services throughout, and beyond, the healthcare continuum.  She has energetically pursued a path to help bridge this gap, and is passionate about providing quality concierge physical therapy services for her clients in their next phase of recovery. 

Aimee Fernandez, MS, SLP

Aimee is a bilingual speech-language pathologist treating adolescents and adults with neurological impairments affecting speech, language, voice, cognition, and swallowing function, for over 15 years. Aimee earned her master’s degree from Florida International University, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She has provided extensive therapy to adolescents and adults in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, private practice, and in-home services.  Aimee has also provided community outreach programs and coordinated caregiver and family educational series. Her experience in management has promoted her ability to balance clinical leadership, operational management, and strategic vision that ensures her clients receive the best possible care.

 

Using a patient-centered approach and evidence-based practice, Aimee strives to provide functional and meaningful gains that impact an individual’s quality of life.  Aimee is trained in LSVT Loud (Lee Silverman Voice Treatment), a program utilized for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions that affect vocal loudness and clarity.  Aimee is trained in NMES (Neuromuscular Electrical Stimulation), designed to be used in combination with traditional feeding therapy to treat swallowing disorders through muscular re-education. Aimee is also Beckman Oral-Motor certified which focuses on oral motor and motor planning that can impact speech and swallowing.

Aimee is a certified member of the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) and is a licensed clinician in Florida and Georgia.
